New York City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito,

Speaker Mark-Viverito will discuss the City Council’s outreach to the community and ethnic media, her State of the City address, the Council’s legislative agenda, including the Criminal Justice Reform Act, numerous challenges immigrants are facing in the city, affordable housing, issues confronting small businesses and workers rights.
Errol Louis, NY1’s Inside City Hall host and Director of the Urban Reporting Concentration at the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism, will be joined by two journalists from the community and ethnic media. The panelists will ask a round of questions of the Speaker, after which time questions will be taken from other reporters in attendance.
The event is being organized jointly by the Center for Community and Ethnic Media at CUNY Graduate School of Journalism and the office of New York City Council’s Speaker for the members of community and ethnic media.
This is the seventh of the ongoing series of Q&As for Newsmakers and the second for 2016. Errol Louis will host all the sessions.
