About the training:

Solutions journalism (SJ) is rigorous, evidence-based reporting on the responses to social problems. It is not advocacy, hero worship, opinion pieces or academic reports. It is reporting on what works, primarily putting problem-solving at the center of the story.

This training will help journalists to rigorously report on responses to problems. It will also offer support to news organizations producing solutions reporting projects and connect journalists and newsrooms for shared learning and collaboration.

During our training, participants will be taught more about:

  • Solutions journalism
  • How to practice it on different platforms and what the impacts have been and can be
  • How best to use it as one of the many reporting tools in your tool box
  • Different types of engagement techniques and collaborative strategies news outlets can use to increase their impact
