Advanced Mobile Shooting Workshop

From photographing a press conference to breaking news to creative portraiture — strong visual skills are key for reporters and editors alike. Photos are the first thing viewers look at on a page or screen.

This intermediate-to-advanced, hands-on workshop will guide participants in honing their mobile photo skills. The workshop will be structured around an in-class shooting assignment followed by a group critique. It requires a basic knowledge of mobile camera operation. The workshop will cover:

  • Basic-to-advanced mobile photo composition
  • Advanced tips and tricks for better results with your mobile device
  • Using HDR, panoramas and other special features of your phone’s camera app
  • Post-production tools and techniques
  • Apps that extend your device’s capacity
  • Vocabulary to discuss/analyze photographs
  • Strategies for using photos to drive traffic
  • Managing storage on a mobile device
