Every morning César Jr., 14, had breakfast with his mother who then accompanied him to school. “Now I go to school alone without saying goodbye or giving a hug,” said the teenager who is a US citizen whose mother of Ecuadorian origin was deported. Caesar’s sister, Elena, 20, also regrets that her mother is not here and can help her take care of her 1-year-old son, since the young woman is studying and working. “Now that she’s not with me, I have to go through this alone and it’s not easy,” Elena said. Beyond a mother, both children, who asked that their complete identity not be revealed, what they most miss is that she was their confidant.”
