Susan Farkas is a freelance producer who has contributed stories to MSNBC, BBC, Al Jazeera America and United Nations TV. She spent seven years as Chief of Radio and Television at the United Nations and 17 years at NBC News, where she was Senior Producer at Dateline NBC, Senior Producer for Broadcast Standards, and Executive Producer of Documentaries. She started her career in her native Canada, producing radio and television programs. She has won six National Emmys and the RFK Journalism Award for Human Rights Reporting, among other awards.
Frederick Kaufman is a contributing editor at Harper’s magazine, and his nonfiction has appeared in numerous publications, including The New York Times Sunday Magazine, New York magazine, The New Yorker, Harper’s, Wired, Foreign Policy, Nature, Gentleman’s Quarterly, Men’s Journal, Men’s Health, Gourmet, Saveur, Interview, Spin, Spy, Aperture, Allure, Publisher’s Weekly, and The Village Voice Literary Supplement. Kaufman, a professor of English and Journalism at the College of Staten Island, received his B.A. from Yale and a Ph.D. in English from The Graduate Center.
