Home / Newsmakers / Newsmakers 2016: Q&A with City Council Speaker Mark-Viverito

New York City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito addressed members of the community and ethnic media at a Q&A session held at the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism on February 18. The event was organized by the J-School’s Center for Community and Ethnic Media as part of its Newsmakers Series.

The Newsmakers Series is an on-the-record conversation between city leaders and our city’s community and ethnic media. This serves as a bridge between mainstream society and immigrant communities and people of color. It’s one of many programs offered by the Center for Community and Ethnic Media which provides professional development, research and leadership for New York City’s community and ethnic press.

Errol Louis, NY1’s Inside City Hall host and director of the Urban Reporting Concentration at the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism, was joined by Debralee Santos (Manhattan Times) and Milton Allimadi (Black Star News) on a panel that interviewed Mark-Viverito. Questions were also taken from journalists in attendance.
